"It's not about rampant consumption, one must conserve to make this world sustainable"
Water Management and Water Conservation are observed as "Key Performance Indicators" in Srinivas under 'Administration Department'. We have been trying to bring it in the main scheme of things so that they are not sidelined and are actually being treated at par with usual organisational objectives related to business performance.
Our Sewage Treatment Plant is based on Sequential Batch Reactor Technology. It is a fill and draw type activated sludge system. In this system, a waste water is added to a single batch reactor, treated to remove undesirable components and then discharged. Unlike the conventional system, SBR performs equalisation, biological treatment and secondary clarification in the single tank. Hence, it is regarded as very efficient STP system.
Sewage Treatment Plant - (STP)
+ Equalisation, primary clarification (in most cases), biological treatment, and secondary clarification can be achieved in a single reactor vessel.
+ Operating flexibility and control.
+ Potential capital cost savings by eliminating clarifiers and other equipment.
- A higher level of sophistication, (compared to conventional systems), especially for larger systems, of timing units and controls is required.
- Higher level of maintenance (compared to conventional systems) associated with more sophisticated controls, automated switches & valves.
- Potential of discharging floating or settled sludge during the draw or decant phases with some SBR configurations.
